Both are official Global PC launchers
Steam + PURPLEBoth Steam and PURPLE are official distribution paths for AION 2 Global and both support the Launch Scale Test. There is no evidence-based reason to call one launcher mechanically stronger in-game.
The important Launch Scale Test difference

That difference matters if you are preloading for the test. It does not prove different gameplay, progression or server rules.
Founder’s Pack / entitlement caution
Do not assume cross-store transferThe official material used here does not provide a general promise that a Founder’s Pack purchased through one storefront automatically transfers to the other launcher. If your early-access purchase matters, buy through the ecosystem you actually intend to use unless NC publishes a supported cross-store path.
Which should you pick?
- Steam: sensible if you want the game in your existing Steam library and use Steam’s storefront.
- PURPLE: sensible if you already use an NC account/PURPLE ecosystem and want the no-extra-uninstall test path described by NC.
- Either: choose based on account/store convenience, not unverified claims of better loot, ping or progression.
